Birmingham Aftercare Recovery Community Preamble

Chris Charpe, Birmingham Aftercare Recovery Community

Aftercare Recovery Community (A.R.C) is a support group in Birmingham UK offering follow-up and encouragement to men and women who are in the transition from primary and secondary care treatment programmes to mainline recovery fellowships.

The primary purpose of A.R.C is to help its members find an uncomplicated route to contented sobriety by meeting together to discuss and discover the principles which underlie other 12-step fellowships. Sobriety is defined as a peaceful, calm, contented, serene and well-balanced life.

A.R.C is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. However we study and use the literature of other Twelve Step Fellowships; and co-operate fully with them where appropriate.

All we ask is that our members remain clean and sober on the day of the meeting.

A.R.C will run on a four-week cycle as follows:
* Speaker meeting
* Aftercare discussion group
* Recovery presentation
* Recovery topic debate/discussion
