TEMPORARY CLOSURE DUE TO THE CORONA VIRUS.
A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER:
I have never come across anything remotely similar to this pandemic situation and so responding effectively has been challenging and has required a lot of help from friends and family.
A friend of mine equated this situation as similar to “going to war except this enemy is invisible”!
In such a short space of time I have gone from feeling safe and unconcerned as this is virus in China which felt far away to feeling scared as this epidemic is now, a few weeks later right on my doorstep!
I found myself having to deal with concerned staff who wanted to know what was going to happen to Twin Rivers and I went from saying that we will work it though to announcing temporary closure with a few days, especially once a nationwide lock down was announced. I was already worried as AA meetings had closed down, all the local beaches and the gym, how would clients cope having to stay inside all the time and not be allowed out anywhere? I saw some clients were becoming restless and preoccupied with their family and partners, wondering if they were ok especially as the virus took hold in the UK.
*Would we be able to get medications in good time?
*Would fresh fruit and vegetables be available due to the unnecessary panic buying!
*Staff coming in and out of the premises each day would be difficult to manage
*extremely challenging to continuously practice social distancing!
*The risk of restless, agitated clients becoming anti-social
*What would be the response of local medical services if some at Twin Rivers shows signs of the corona virus, especially if services are stretched?
*How will I explain a positive test for covid-19 at Twin Rivers to parents, clients and staff?
These factors and more contributed to the decision to temporarily close which does bring about a slightly quite mind!
Twin Rivers will continue to respond to all inquiries with a view to reopening on or before the 1st June 2020.
